Supporters & Event Details
First off, we want to thank EVERYONE for all of your support over the last couple of weeks. Even those of you who just read up on our progress. Thank you ALL for taking an interest! We have had an overwhelming response and we cannot express enough gratitude.
DJGMF presents: Operation Wings for Warriors – Featuring DJ Stacks!!
THIS Saturday – December 3rd, the majority of the members of DJGMF (Suni, Kellie, Krissy, and Alicia) will be behind the bar of Buffalo Wing Factory in ASHBURN from 3:00-11:00PM slinging drinks to raise money for the Foundation! We will be dragging along the one and only DJ Stacks to make sure we have some great music for you all to jam out to. We wish our fifth, Kiki, could make it too, but she’s off pursuing a law degree to put all those criminals out there in jail, so I guess we’ll excuse her absence! Love ya, Kiki!
ALL TIPS will go towards DJGMF and 10% of food sales if you mention that you are there for our cause. So even if you’re not into the drinks, bring your family for a late lunch or dinner and mention DJGMF!
We will also be having a raffle to raise money, and we hope you all are excited because we have some awesome items that were donated by some amazing people. You could win:
- iPod Shuffle
- Hooters Wing Party for you and ten of your friends!
- 30-minute massage from Elandre Spa in Vienna
- Highlight+haircut+salon hair products from Tyler Sue at Elandre Spa
- iPad!!
Stuff a Stocking for a Hero
Our holiday event is still ongoing through December 9th. To add to the 40 collection boxes that we initially put out in the first week of the event, we have had 10 more added into the mix! On top of that, Jeannie Jarrett with Keller Williams Realty reached out to us with some great news. Keller Williams has decided to give her $200-300 (possibly more) to put together stockings specifically for the men in Doug’s platoon! She will be presenting us with the stockings at some point next week and we could not be more thankful for her and Keller Williams support for the community and the soldiers overseas. Thank you Jeannie and Keller Williams!
For any of you who still wish to help out with this event, it is not too late. We still have a full week and a half that we will be collecting goods. If you are unable to put a collection box in your office or place of business, and would still like to contribute by purchasing goods yourself, just shoot us an e-mail or give us a call and we can arrange to meet up with you. We are expecting big things for our first holiday care package collection and hope to send out at least 100 care packages! We have been receiving a ton of stuff this week and if this pace keeps up our goal will be 100% attainable, so please help us make this goal a reality. To all of you that have contributed by donating items or by hosting a box yourself – thank you!!
We will be collecting goods through next Friday, December 9th and packing everything up at Potomac Falls High School on Saturday, December 10th from 1:00-4:00PM with the Senior Class and anyone else from the community who would like to join us.
Other Contributors
On top of all of the goods that have been donated by numerous people, this week we had our first two monetary donations! Kevin & Kathy Green, Doug’s uncle and aunt, were generous enough to donate $200 to DJGMF to help us get on our feet. Brookfield Homes, who has been supporting us through the “Stuff a Stocking for a Hero” event, has also donated $200 to DGJMF.
Velocity 5 has also been a huge supporter of our holiday collection event. They have actively been handing out flyers to spread the word. Every Monday night, ESPN radio is there with a Redskins player and they have been giving a shout out to DJGMF each week.
Thank you guys! You all have been great!
